Friday the 13th: Environmental Defense Fund Style

We love great timing in PR.
We also like the poignancy of strong, physical fact-based numbers placed in the context of human psychological vulnerability to superstition.
And its in this context that it's worth checking out the Environmental Defense Action Fund's campaign today, Friday the 13th Just Got Scarier: Global Warming by the Numbers .
For just when we all thought our disaster consciousness was completely numbed by Sept 17th financial events, EDAF provides 13 facts related to global warming whose juxtaposition is emotionally startling and clearly intended to deliver an "environmental shock stimulus" package back at the legislators.
2 of the 13 Facts
35% -- Increase in the global carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels since the Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1992.
34% -- Percentage that 2008's Arctic seasonal sea ice melt outpaced normal levels.
It's all as if to say, stealing from those ominous phrases from the movie, Alien.. "Yes, be afraid. Be very afraid."
